I'm sure you feel inundated with information by the media and other e-mail list serves. I am not a medical doctor and cannot advise on medical health other than to refer you to your medical provider. I do want to update you regarding some helpful resources and changes in policies to accommodate your needs during this stressful and confusing time. I will do my best to be brief, but I would request you review this in its entirety. At this time, I will continue to provide tele-health based therapy for clients, I am now also equipped to provide tele-health play therapy.
What Is Tele-Health? Tele-Health, at least how I utilize it, is providing a video based therapy session. I use a HIPPA compliant form of Zoom, so that we can safely see one another and maintain confidentiality. It has worked out very well so far, I have been very pleased with it!
I am not currently conducting in office/in person sessions for safety. I am still providing the same service, only on-line.
If you or a family member test positive for the coronavirus, or are in the process of being tested, please notify Luna Counseling immediately if you have been in the office, for an in-person session, within the last three weeks. ALSO, PLEASE NOTIFY LUNA COUNSELING IF YOU HAVE BEEN ORDERED TO SELF QUARANTINE BUT HAVE NOT BEEN TESTED. I have been told that tests are not being provided to symptomatic patients in the local area unless they fit into one of three groups: are elderly, pregnant, or require immediate hospitalization. This is important to keep in mind, as this indicates a vast under-testing, and thus misrepresentation of actual figures.
Now that appointments have been moved on-line, the attendance policy is once again in effect..
If needed, I will work on offering weekend appointments and late evening appointments in the interim to accommodate individual needs, such as parents who have children now home from school. Please notify me if this would be your preference.
I am learning that the governor has ordered tele-therapy coverage for mental health. Please note tele-therapy may not be ideal for some clients and does require several components such as internet access and a safe and private space to conduct sessions in your home. I have been informed that telephone counseling will also be temporarily covered. I will be sending a specialized consent to treatment form for clients who prefer to use this mode of therapy while the coronavirus crisis is occurring. Because the governor has ordered it, it would stand to reason your insurance company is required to cover this service. The insurers I am in-network with (Anthem, Medical Mutual, Caresource) have approved this. If I am out of network for your insurer please check with them regarding this. If they tell you it is NOT covered, please ask them if this is LEGAL given Govenor Mike DeWine's order for coverage in the state of Ohio. Write down the name and id number of the worker you speak with. Ask to speak with a supervisor and rehash this with them.
* Although insurers are stating they are covering tele-health services, the changing nature of this situation would still leave responsibility of payment to you should an insurer deny a claim. Due to the governor's mandate this would seem like a highly unlikely scenario.
