Pregnancy
Pregnancy can be a challenging time for some women. Whether the pregnancy was unplanned or welcomed with excitement, the influx of new hormones in our bodies can set off a web of new emotions and personal struggles. Some women may experience depression or anxiety, and women who struggled with this before pregnancy can find it reoccurring or intensifying. Furthermore, as we come closer to creating our own family, this can trigger concerns about parenting, especially for women who grew up in dysfunctional homes. Therapy can be especially helpful during this new period of life.

Birth
Just thinking about birth can stir up many anxious feelings for women, especially in a culture where cesarean sections are performed on one out of three birthing mothers. Our culture has created a fear around birth, some of which is grounded in reality, but much of it is simply not true. Whether a woman is preparing for birth or trying to recover from a traumatic or disappointing birth, therapy can be very helpful, especially for moms who know that birth is about more than simply having a healthy baby. It's a rite of passage.
